Q&A with…. Faith Kipyegon

Faith holds all the world titles in the 1500m – from the World Juniors, World Youth, Commonwealth Games, World Championships to the Olympic Games.  At the 2020 Diamond League season opener in Monaco while debuting in the 1000m, Faith ran the second fastest time in history with a time of 2:29.15 missing the world record by 0.17. She holds the 1500m Kenyan national record in a time of  3:54.22 and was part of the Kenya 4×1500 relay team that won a gold medal and set a world record of 16:33.58 at the 2014 World Relays in the Bahamas. She is also a mother of two-year-old daughter Alyn.

What has been a defining moment in your career?

Becoming an Olympic Champion at the 2016 Rio Olympics has been a defining moment in my career.

What was the first thought that went through your mind when you heard the Tokyo Olympics had been postponed?

When I received the news about Tokyo Olympics, I thought it was over, but now at least we can focus ourselves towards next year

What is your greatest extravagance?

When I spend money, I try to spend it on good and long-term investments.

Which superpower would you like to have?

I would like to become stronger and be able to break records in the future.

When under pressure, what do you say to yourself to help you get through it?

When I’m under pressure I tell myself to believe in my training and to stay calm.

What three things you would take with you if had to be stranded on a desert island for a year?

If I was stranded on an island, I would like to have my fishnet with me😀
