Q&A with…Alfons Juck

Profession: Agent and meet organiser at Top Athletes- an athlete representation agency based in Slovakia. The agency’s clients include hammer throw world record holder, Anita Włodarczyk. Alfons is also TV commentator and has covered 6 Olympic Games.

What has been a defining moment in your career?

As future meet organiser and agent it was when I started to announce the meetings. In 1984 I had the luck and opportunity of announcing Sergey Bubka, World record holder in pole vault, in my hometown Bratislava before 30 000 spectators.

What was the first thought that went through your mind when you heard the Tokyo Olympics had been postponed?

That we are living in special times. But I’m sure we will overcome.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Watching series and movies and having great red wine from South Africa

When under pressure, what do you say to yourself to help you get through it?

Keep calm and take a break, even for 5 minutes.

What three things you would take with you if you were to be stranded on a desert island for a year?

My wife, bible and good mood
