What motivates you?

When you set realistic and reachable goals and focus on the process of getting there, and also looking at friends running or competing makes me love running.

You have said that your mindset plays a big role in your performance, what do you do that gives you confidence and helps you be focused?

First, I love planning my program and then strictly sticking to it.  When I have finished a tough program it shows me, wow, I am really ready for something! So, by doing my training well, I gain confidence in my abilities.

Can you give some advice to all the social/amateur runners out there on the best way to pace a marathon?

My advice would be to be focused and disciplined in your training – you will learn about your body and pacing that way. Also, avoid having too many people telling you how you should run. Trust your training and preparation.

What was the best advice you received as a professional athlete?

To be honest and humble, determination and discipline always take you further.

What is your ultimate goal?

To be happy and humble always. My goal is to run clean until I hang up my shoes and try to get a school where I can mentor young athletes all over the world.
